DISCIPLINE AREAS - Performing Arts

Performance Opportunities

The Shelford Performing Arts Faculty provides student performance opportunities at Church, Assemblies, Competitions, AMEB examinations, School Functions and Open Days, as well as performances in the local community and overseas.

Lunchtime recitals and Arts Concerts are held in Terms 1, 2 and 3. These are
designed to give 'beginner' music students performance experience in an informal setting. Arts concerts showcase all the Visual and Performing Arts. They are an opportunity for the more experienced performer to refine their craft in a more public setting.

Musicals

The Junior and Senior school present a musical in alternate years. This allows for more flexibility to pursue other creative projects, eg. making a school CD or commissioned projects.

House Performing Arts

Each year students participate in House Performing Arts - creating a performance piece on a given theme. Students are independently responsible for all aspects of the production - music, dance, drama, script, lighting, scenery and stage design. The 2009 theme for House Performing Arts is: All that Gistens is not Gold.
