Shelford's 110th Anniversary Fair

We were delighted with the turnout for the 110th Anniversary Fair on Sunday. Many members of the School Community, including Pam Chessell, members of the Board of Governors, parents, staff, students and Shelfordians, worked tirelessly throughout the day to ensure that everything went as smoothly as possible.

It is estimated that we had thousands of visitors to the Fair, many of whom were outside the school community. The wonderful music provided by our students and organised by our Music staff, the amazing works of Art exhibited in the Annual Art Exhibition arranged by the Art Department and the stunning array of stalls organised by individuals across the school served to highlight the vibrant nature of the Shelford community.

In particular we need to express our gratitude to Jan Bottcher, a member of the Board of Governors, who gave an enormous amount of time and energy to Chair the 110th Anniversary Fair Committee. John Phillips, Gill Henry and Kerryn Coleman, provided much needed assistance, and for this we are most grateful.

Our gratitude also extends to all of the Stall Convenors and their teams, to everyone who publicised the Fair, assisted with the setting up and cleaning afterwards and to everyone who supported this event. The Shelford families who provided their front fences to display the Fair Billboards, and the companies who displayed posters were also significant contributors to the success of the day. Shelford students and staff provided magnificent music in the Helenslea Courtyard and in The Hood, the Art Department was responsible for the impressive exhibition of student art, Financial Literacy students sold Showbags to aid the KKS School in Bangladesh, students inflated the Anniversary balloons and assisted with a variety of tasks, and staff worked on the Shelford Information Booth, stalls and the barbecues.

Several companies supported the Fair and we encourage the Shelford Community to support them in return. Please mention the Shelford connection to enhance our relationship with these sponsors.
