Information Resource Centre
The Information Resource Centre (IRC) at Shelford is a multi-functional, focal point for student learning. It is central to implementing, enriching and supporting the teaching and learning programs of the School, in response to the Victorian Educational Learning Standards. In this welcoming, user-centred environment, students and staff have access to a vibrant print and electronic resource collection. Skilled, committed and caring staff answer reference questions, help teachers plan units of work, find resources and integrate ICT into their teaching. The service empowers students to become independent learners throughout their lives, encouraging them to be effective users of ideas and information. The IRC also provides and promotes quality reading experiences, which enable students to develop their literacy skills and an interest in reading for pleasure and understanding.
The Information Resource Centre (IRC) consists of the School Library, with more than 20000 books, Journals, Online resources, Reading and Class Workspace Areas, Multimedia Services and ICT support, Seminar Room, Junior Room, Senior Study space, desktop computers. notebook computers with wireless access, printing, scanning and photocopying facilities.
The Hubs
Computing resources are spread across the School to facilitate the teaching and learning programs. In addition to this resource, The Hubs form Shelford's Centre for Computing. These consist of numerous desktop computers, a range of still and video digital cameras, video editing equipment, Colour and Black and white printers, high speed photocopiers, multimedia projectors and fast internet access.
