Parent, student and staff survey results

Principal's news Wednesday, 26 Oct 2022

I wish to thank the parents who took part in this year’s survey and encourage those that did not, to please do so in the future, as the data and comments are taken in to account in our planning and operations.

The results of the surveys we conducted of parents, students (Year 5–12) and staff, are very pleasing and indicate a great deal of support for the approach that Shelford is taking and the direction we are headed.

Parent opinion survey

We are proud that Shelford was higher than the overall benchmark for each of the key areas.

  • 10% higher than the National Benchmark (average of key areas)
  • 9% higher than the Independent Schools Benchmark (average of key areas)
  • 6% higher than the Independent All girls’ Schools Benchmark (average of key areas)

Top 3 strengths (and improvement from last year’s survey)

  • This school provides plenty of opportunities for all students to participate in additional activities such as sports, arts and music.
  • This school encourages my child to participate in community activities.
  • Students present themselves with pride.

Student Satisfaction Survey

Again, we are proud that Shelford was higher than the overall benchmark for each of the key areas.

  • Overall, 8% higher than the National Benchmark.
  • 4% higher than the Independent Schools Benchmark (average of key areas).
  • 2% higher than the Independent All girls’ Schools Benchmark (average of key areas).

Compared to results from 2021, Shelford was higher for each of the key areas. Overall, the School was 5% higher than its results from 2021.

Top 3 strengths

  • The computer resources at this school are up-to-date.
  • I enjoy going to school.
  • My teachers keep up-to-date with technology.

Staff Satisfaction Survey

Again, we are higher than the overall benchmark for each of the key areas

  • 6% higher than the National Benchmark (average of key areas).
  • 3% higher than the Independent Schools Benchmark (average of key areas)
  • 1% higher than the Independent All girls’ Schools Benchmark (average of key areas)

Top 3 strengths

  • The curriculum is innovative and meets the needs of the individual children.
  • This school offers opportunities for me to become involved in the decision-making process.
  • This school encourages me to strive to meet my career goals.

We are not resting on our laurels and have taken on board the areas and comments where improvements can be made. We have shared results with staff and as a team, as always, are reviewing and seeking to improve our processes, procedures, strategies and operations.
