Cath Freney joined us as Careers Counsellor in February 2021. She has worked in education for some 29 years, holding various leadership roles. Always passionate about student wellbeing, Cath’s interest in Careers Counselling came from her role as Head of Year 12. She particularly enjoyed counselling the students and talking to them about their futures. She still delights in hearing her past students talk about how much they enjoy their job or their University or TAFE course she helped them select.
An important part of Cath’s role is building confidence in students that they can get to their dream career. This includes supporting them to:
- identify pathways to take them there
- develop employability skills, ensuring they are well-prepared for work
- document their training, qualifications and interests/experiences in a resume/LinkedIn profile
- develop networks of people who can support them in reaching their goals.
The workplace is constantly changing and it is vitally important we are giving our girls the skills they need to succeed.
