Service Learning

Service Learning is an educational approach combining learning objectives with community service to provide a pragmatic, progressive learning experience while meeting societal needs. It provides an opportunity for students to think critically and creatively as they work with each other and community partners.

Service Learning activities allow our students to be courageous, constructive and compassionate world citizens with a will to contribute. Shelford’s Service Learning program links specific learning outcomes with genuine opportunities for service in the community.

The focus of our Service Learning is varied and changes as new opportunities arise. Examples of some current learning initiatives include:

  • Community Service Committee
  • Youth in Philanthropy Program
  • National Tree Planting Day
  • Shelford Winter Appeal
  • SolarBuddy
  • RCD Foundation.
